Biographical Sketch:

Kevin J. Murphy, professor of finance and business economics, is an expert on executive compensation, and is the author of more than two dozen articles, cases, or book chapters relating to compensation and incentives in organizations. Prior to joining USC, Professor Murphy spent time on the faculty of the Harvard Business School and the University of Rochester’s Simon School. Mr. Murphy helped the SEC formulate their 1992 disclosure rules for top management pay, and spent the 1994-1995 academic year at Towers Perrin. He has given speeches and presentations on compensation and incentives to a variety of academic and practitioner audiences, including the Conference Board, the American Compensation Association, and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve. He is an associate editor of the Economic Bulletin, Journal of Financial Economics, the Journal of Accounting and Economics, the Journal of Corporate Finance, and Managerial and Decision Economics.
