Previously, was educated at the University of Southern Queensland and the London School of Economics, where he obtained honors and masters degrees in economics, respectively. He has had experience working in both the public sector - having spent time as a research associate at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies - as well as the private sector, as an analyst at the former J.P. Morgan.
