Biographical Sketch:
Saibal Kar is the Reserve Bank of India Chair Professor of Economics at the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta, India and a Research Fellow of the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) Bonn. He teaches Labor Economics at Calcutta University and was a Fellow of the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Held visiting positions at Amsterdam School of Economics, Santa Fe Institute, Hamburg University, etc. Managing Editor, South Asian Journal of Macroeconomics and Public Finance (Sage).
Research area: Labor Economics, International Economics, and published in World Development, IEEE-Transactions, European Physical Journal, Environmental and Resource Economics, Resource and Energy Economics, Economic Modelling, Economics Letters, Ecological Economics, etc. Books include, "The Outsiders: Economic Reform and Informal Labour in a Developing Economy" (with S. Marjit, OUP, 2011); ‘International Trade and Economic Development' (with R. Acharyya, Clarendon: OUP); etc. |
