By a nice coincidence PET09 takes place during the same week as one of Galway's best festivals - the Session's festival. The word session is used in Ireland to describe an informal gathering of musicians in pubs, clubs or private homes. The music is typically traditional Irish music. On any night of the week you can find informal gatherings of musicians in several pubs in Galway. The Galway Sessions festival was begun seven years ago and has quickly established itself as one of the most popular festivals in the city.
You'll find full details about the festival in the brochure in your conference bag and on the Festival web site at www.galwaysessions.com
Most of the events are free and take place in various pubs in the city centre. The festival organizers have agreed to give conference delegates a concession on the price of the events that take place in the Crane Bar and the Roisín Dúbh. To get your concession simply show your conference badge when buying a ticket at these venues.
